Back-2-School Anxiety: 1 Reminder and 5 Quick Tips for Parents

We are officially back to school, and like most parents and caregivers, my anxiety is very high. We are all worried about the safety of our children. My concern is not only limited to my child’s physical safety but also his mental health and well-being. There are various changes in the academic environment, and our children have to adapt. However, I am praying for the best and trying to keep the faith.

My son’s school has been trying to ease that anxiety for parents by providing us with many of steps that we can take to help our children adjust to the new school environment. They have also provided parents with consistent resources to make sure that we are sending our children to school with the appropriate materials to allow them to have a successful and safe school year. The consistent resources and tips have been somewhat helpful.

Below is one crucial reminder heading into the new school year and also some quick tips to follow. I read about it amongst a stack of resources, and I thought it would be a great reminder to share.

Due to our current circumstances, staff are unable to touch children’s lunches. They can’t help them with the typical basics, such as opening a fruit snack package.

Quick Tips:

  • Place snacks in easy-open containers.
  • Open the corner of pre-packaged snacks.
  • Pre-peel fruit
  • Avoid items like fruit cups or yogurt. Pour them into easy-open containers.
  • Pack a napkin for your child to place on their desk.

Stay Safe!
